Anglican Singers

St. James is blessed to host The Anglican Singers, an independently organized choir-in-residence which is dedicated to the English choral tradition. The Anglican Singers have been artists-in-residence since 1997 and sing the majority of Evensong services each year at St. James Church, as well as the annual Service of Lessons and Carols for Advent.  In the summer of 2017 the choral group was the choir in residence for two weeks at Exeter and Truro Cathedrals in Cornwall, England.

The Music Director of the Anglican Singers is Benjamin Straley, Assistant Rector of St. John's Episcopal Church in Essex and previously the organist and associate music director at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.  He was named one of the "Top 20 Under 30" young organists in America by The Diapason magazine.  Organist of the Anglican Singers is Simon Holt, a graduate of The Royal College of Music in London and Executive Director of the Thames Valley Music School in New London.
